Dirty Harry

I can't remember what it was for, but I think it might have been charitable. The Gorillaz performed as part of a TV show on the BBC (or something like that). I'd already heard the song before as I had the CD, but the TV performance really stuck with me. The mix of storytelling through the animations of the Gorillaz characters and the orchestral performance was something else. It really bridged the gap between so many genres to what was a mainstream audience, and I was proud. A lot of the music I enjoyed had shied away from popular culture, and this seemed to change things at the time. It was the talk of the school yard the next day and all of a sudden, hip hop, jazz and classical music were part of the conversation.
